Thanks for your time in reading this! Please let me know if you think of a better way to implement this (aside from using Bitsy hacks, as of course that would be better haha).

I’ve found the biggest drawback is that every battle ends up being more or less the same. Of course, I had ideas on how to solve this with more code (adding type matchups, interactivity to attacks by sending you to another map while you do the attack), but ultimately ran out of time and patience for the game jam. I’d love to see others take this and run with it a bit farther on this end.

Of course, we must remind ourselves that Bitsy is meant to be limited. It’s a game engine meant for testing the limits of our creative capability- not technical. That being said, I think the format of Bitsy lends itself well to RPG type games, and having a battle system might break up the typical “fetch quest” style that most Bitsy games take after. At least- that was my goal.
